THE
"SAFE TEE PLAY" SIGNAL SYSTEM MK
IV
The
"Safe Tee Play"
Signal System is designed for Golf Courses that
have a blind tee shot.
- All
too often golfers are inadvertently injured
by unsuspecting players who are required to
hit to an out of view landing area.
- The
"Safe Tee Play"
Signal System was specifically designed and
developed to overcome this problem.
- Approved
by Insurance Companies and Golf Course Committees.
The
"Safe Tee Play"
Signal System consists of: -
The
Transmitter
One self contained unit with simple press-button
operation and powered by regular universally available
AA heavy-duty batteries. The Transmitter is installed
in the safe area out of range of the blind tee shot.
The Receiver
One self contained unit with simple press-button
operation and powered by regular universally available
AA heavy-duty batteries. After the unit is activated
a flashing red indicator is displayed. The Receiver
is installed on or near the teeing area.
Operation
A player activates the system by pressing a
button on the "Safe
Tee Play" Signal System when leaving
the tee. A flashing red indicator is now displayed.
After players have played their shots to the green
and have moved out of the danger zone they press
a button on the "Safe
Tee Play" Signal System transmitter
which signals the following players that it is safe
to hit from the tee.
A built in variable timer in the unit at the Tee
resets the system to "PLAY" mode after
a pre-set time.

This
article, which appeared in the Weekend Bulletin,
details a tragic accident that occurred on a golf
course that resulted in catastrophic head injuries
to a golfer and the mammoth compensation payout
the Courts awarded.
The case is a sober reminder to all golf clubs that
they have to do everything possible to ensure their
course is set up safely for the players.
ADVANTAGES OF THE "SAFE TEE PLAY" SIGNAL
SYSTEM
The
"Safe Tee Play" Signal System is
fully self-contained and has the following advantages
over other forms of signaling systems: -
- No
need for underground supply cables.
- No
need for underground linking cables between
units nor the maintenance of cabling.
- Ease
of installation.
- Silent
operation, no distracting bells to be heard
around the course.
- Where
security may be a problem the
units can be installed to accommodate easy removal
for overnight storage.
